I am concerned that a child is being abused, what should
I do?
If you are concerned that a child is being abused, please do
not ignore your concerns. It is important however, that you do
not confront the
situation
yourself.
The best course of action for you is to call the Children
and Families Team in your local Social Services Department. In
an
emergency,
call the police on 999 as they have Child Protection Teams.
Alternatively, if you're concerned about the safety of a child
the NSPCC Child Protection Helpline on 0808 800 5000 is a free,
confidential, 24 hour helpline available every day of the year.
A free text phone service is in place for people who are hard
of hearing on 0800 056 0566. There's also an e-mail helpline,
send messages to help@nspcc.org.uk
